Thot

Thot is the Greek form of the name of the Egyptian moon god. Variant spellings are Thoth, Thout, Tot, and in Egyptian Djhowtey, Djehuti, Tehuti, Zehuti, as delineated here.

Thot LogoThot measured and recorded the passing seasons. He invented writing and numbers. Thot was also a god of the underworld, where he served as a scribe who recorded the judgments on the souls of the dead. Thot was therefore the god of scribes. Over time he developed into a god of knowledge and wisdom, and came to be associated with magic, music, medicine, astronomy, geometry, surveying, and drawing. Given all this, his name lends itself naturally to an asset management system that doubles as an annotating version control system — which is what our Thot is.

An illustrated page on Thot can be found here. A general page on Egyptian mythology and religion is here.

Our logo is a stylized version of the Egyptian hieroglyph for Thot. It contains a rising moon, an ibis bird on a pedestal stand and two diagonal slashes which are scribe marks that signify a completed inscription.
